Style Sunday: Summer Series: Seashells

Last Sunday we focused on Beachy Casual and showed you some great ideas for a low-key and fun beach wedding, or themed party or event. This week we are stepping it up a notch to show you that a beach wedding doesn't have to be casual. There are tons of items for a seashell theme and it can easily be dressed up or dressed down.

My favorite invitation for a seashell beach theme is definitely the TRU Invitation featured in the upper left corner. The shells on the invitation are absolutely gorgeous and it is a great invitation that will definitely set the tone for a more formal beach wedding. The invitation in the upper right, by Carlson Craft, is available in multiple colors. It is a little more casual and would definitely set the tone for a laid-back event.

To make it an authentic seashell theme I would definitely recommend these assorted seashell place card holders. I'd suggest using a tray filled with sand to nestle your seashell place card holders into...this would truly be an unexpected and great way to greet your guests.

For a more formal wedding use the seashell paper cut outs and the small silver shell place card holders.

Let your guests bring a bit of the beach home with them with the gel beach themed candles (shown in the upper left). It's a great gift idea and every time your guest light heir candle they can remind themselves how much fun they had at your wedding.

I personally love these seashell candle tea lights...they would make excellent favors, but I think they would make even better table decor. Swap out the traditional tea lights around your center piece with these to add that something extra special.

You can also skip the fancy cake and serve cupcakes - cupcakes have always been a big hit at the weddings I have seen them at. The die cut cupcake wrappers feature seashells too!

Small shell soaps also make a nice favor, they come wrapped nicely in an aqua blue box - they just look so classy!

Don't forget to thank you guests with personalized favor tags!

Kreative Idea: Skip the expensive floral arrangements for your centerpiece, instead find a fantastic vase, fill it it with sand, candles & shells.

Thrifty Thursday: The Little White Book

Check out this new wedding planning package - unlike any that I have ever seen. Our sister company, Entertain Me Event Planning has just added a new package called the Little White Book. Save yourself hours of researching vendors, inspiration, and more and instead opt for this new package. For a small fee they will point you in the right direction saving you time and money. They'll put together a budget, timeline, and vendor list for you that fits your needs. You'll also get an inspiration board to show to vendors in order to keep everyone on the same page.

This package is a great add on to their day of coordination package - it is so close to full planning at a fraction of the price.

Sneak Peak: Easter

My husband and I are very excited to be hosting Easter this year! This is the first major holiday in our new place and we are excited to show off all of our hard work & renovations on the new place. We are also excited to pull out all of our fancy china & crystal we registered for our wedding. It has all been in storage for 2 years when we were living in smaller apartments! It's so pretty too, it deserves to be used! Today I had the day off, so I thought I would start getting the decor under control...I'm trying to forget about more snow coming & focus on how close we are getting to spring!!

Above is the tablescape will be using. It was simple and affordable to put together. The candles, cake stands and & small egg shaped bowls were all purchased from the Christmas Tree Shops. FOr the mock-set up I used fake flowers from Michaels, but for the real thing I'm going with real tulips. I'll also probably cut them down a bit so they aren't so tall & probably use more of them per vase.

The flower holder is actually soup cans. I cut down 12x12 scrapbook paper to size, wrapped the paper around the can and hot glued it into place. I then used some left over sage green ribbon from my wedding to tie a quick knot around the can for a little something extra.

To add a little more color to the table & to opt out of a costly table runner I used pink Easter grass, also purchased from the Christmas Tree Shops.

At each place setting there are small egg shaped bowls, all in different colors. I put a chocolate bunny in each one. On the actual day I'll probably also fill it will jelly beans and other small candy.

For the menu, I'm planning to serve:
Ham
Scalloped Pineapple
A Salad
Bread
I'm still trying to decide on another side or 2 and dessert.

I'm also planning on having a jelly bean bar - a take on the oh so popular candy bar. Pictures of this still to come!

Happy Easter Planning!

Style Sunday: Summer Series: Beachy Casual

I'm tired of this snowy New Jersey weather & just dying for summer to get here! I've been busy the last few weeks with all the summer brides trying to pick out their summer wedding items! So, I thought there is no better time to start sharing my summer ideas with you! Summer is probably the top wedding season, and there is definitely not a lack of options for the summer bride. I found so many fabulous items for you that I couldn't fit it all into one blog post...so, I've created the Style Sunday Summer Series. The next couple of weeks will solely be covering the summer month weddings.

This weeks focus is on beachy casual, bright colors, flip flops, sand buckets, fun colored drinks...everything you love about a beach day at your wedding...

Announce your wedding date with these adorable save the date flip flops! Step it up a notch with the invitation. These fun and different invitations are mailed in a great cardboard envelope which really makes it stand out - this definitely won't get lost in the mail. The thongs on the flip flops come in a variety of colors to coordinate with your big day!

Many wedding ceremonies feature a unity candle, but for a beach wedding a sand ceremony is much more appropriate! There are so many different colors of sand I'm sure you can find exactly what you are looking for.

The fun sand pail also comes in more colors than you can imagine. They can be incorporated into your centerpieces, hold flip flops for guests, decked out with petals for the flower girl, or be used as a welcome "bag" for your guests.

Guide your guests to their seats with these adorable colorful flip flop place card holders.

The teal seashell placemat would definitely add that extra pop to all your place settings.

There were tons of ideas for favors - there is the obvious lollipops, and playing cards...but I absolutely love the look of the drink mixes. The packaging is absolutely stunning and they would double as decor because they are just so fun. There is never anything better than sitting on a beach with a cocktail in hand - your guests will love them!

I also really liked the woven beach bag. The small scale play on the real deal is a great way for guests to tote home their little gift or candy.

Let's face it, most beach weddings are destination weddings...so you'll want to great your guests with one of these great terry cloth caddy welcome bags filled with all the goodies seen. Your guests will love you for the colorful and festive Chapstick & sun block, especially to save them a trip to the store - remember they can't fly with their Costco sized sunblock in their carry on these days - they'll be really thankful you thought ahead!

Mirka & Jan's Red Rose Theme Invitations

Today I had the pleasure of meeting with Mirka about invitations. She was a breeze to work with because she knew exactly what she looking for out of an invitation. She came armed and ready to go with pictures of invitations she liked, this is so helpful to have when meeting with your stationery consultant because it helps us help you so much faster.

Mirka and her fiance are both from Slovakia - half of their guests speak only Slovak and the other half speak English, they also have a small guest list of only about 50 people. Because of this I instantly recommended that they do a custom invitation. Printing companies have such high set up fees that to have to have them set up 2 different invitations and then tack on a foreign language charge would put the price of their invitations a ridiculous high price for only 50 invitations.

Mirka also requested a unique invitation size. Traditionally in the US invitations really do not start any smaller than 5x7, however as she explained to me, in Slovakia guests traditionally keep their invitations and they like to put them into photo albums, so their invitations are generally no larger that 4x6.

Because of all of these unique factors, custom design was truly the best scenario.

This was one of the inspiration invitations that Mirka showed me that she liked...

This is how I recreated...this is a rough draft, client's personal invitation was blocked for privacy.

This was another inspiration picture Mirka shared with me, her only request was that flower have color.

This is what I created for her..

We thank the photographer at freedigitalphotos.net for use of his red rose photo.

30%-40% off Great Wedding Accessories - limited time only

Spread the word...

I'm currently getting an order together for another bride who is getting the favor boxes from Hortense B. Hewitt & Co shown above. I was able to find the exact box she wanted and was able to save her money off of many of the other websites out there. However, there is a minimum order in dollar figures that has to be reached in order to avoid additional fees.

So, I'm looking for any other brides that might want to order anything so that we can reach the amount. We are looking at prices that are about 30%-40% off of regular retail.

Hortense B. Hewitt Co offers a great selection of wedding day accessories (cake toppers, flower girl baskets, ring bearer baskets, favor packages, decorations, toasting flutes & servers, unity candles, guest books, etc.) If you are interested please check out their
website!

If you are interested in any of the items simply click on the link below and then fill it out (you can input HBHWedding for the Sunday Style Question) and then I'll price out the items for you.

Order Items

I'm not sure yet when the actual order will be going in, most likely in the next 2-3 weeks, so if you are interested please let me know so that I can check back with you before placing the order. Let me know if you have any questions! Please pass this along to any other brides out there planning!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner - so I thought I'd share some of my favorite pink & heart themed items to get us all in the spirit! The pink invitation is from one of my favorite albums, TRU Expressions! The tiara sized invite comes in a variety of colors and can be coordinated with your colors.

I really liked the wired cake topper - it is unqiue and funky! It would definitely add that extra special touch.

I also found the "hugs and kisses" band aids absolutely adorable!

These are actually plant tags, but I see them as place cards! Pair them with a small potted plant for a great favor/place card combo or assemble them all in a big pot. Great for a spring or garden party theme event.

These items above were one of my greatest finds at the show this year! I just loved the items that they offered and they really do provide some unique favor ideas. I received a free sample of their pina coolada chapstick - yum! Their cocktail chapsticks would make a great favor at a stock the bar party or girls night out event.

They also have chap sticks with monograms or with th

e word Thank you.

Having a beach destination wedding? They have some great looking sunscreen that would make an excellent addition to the welcome bags or cute favors.

This company had some great cupcake sleeves and toppers as well as fun cancles that spelled out Lost Count?, Thirtyish, Forever Yound, and Birthday Queen.
